The Lead Sourcing Specialist – Commodity Management will negotiate with dedicated providers according to specific policies in order to achieve the best contractual conditions while also ensuring internal customer satisfaction. The person in this role is responsible for developing conceptual knowledge of their professional discipline, which may include supportive roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge within a broad area.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels. Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers. Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement. Manage claims. Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities.
- Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
- Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults People Leader or more senior team members for issues outside of defined parameters.
- Collaborates with others to solve issues. Develops strong supplier relationships and serves as the interface between suppliers and GE. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.
- Handles simple data entry work requiring face value check and correction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Supply Chain)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with supplier negotiations and supplier management
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or continuous improvement
- Experience with Oracle
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
