Job Description

Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a highly motivated IT Program Manager to work with executive level individuals to drive the strategic approach and tactical adoption for the IT Strategy transformation initiatives. In this role you will, work in partnership with executives, business, IT stakeholders, and PMO team members to create a unified transformation roadmap. Set, manage and support objectives, key results, and processes guidelines for execution. You will play an important role in supporting the Strategy and Governance AVP, while supporting the IT organization ensuring alignment to organizational strategies, priorities, and execution.

Responsibilities


• Support ownership and management by the Strategy and Governance AVP of the scope, schedule, budget and quality of a program in alignment with the business objectives.

• Partner with Focus Area Owners (FAO) on creation of transformation roadmaps for each of the Focus Areas.

• Maintain an understanding of how underlying project success factors relate to the broader program and drive business results.

• Identify and escalate resource needs to support the program and to help remove impediments and roadblocks.

• Communicate with key stakeholders on status, risks and accomplishments to ensure successful delivery of the program and outcomes.

• Provide guidance and coaching on how to manage cross-program / cross-team dependencies.

• Engage with stakeholders periodically to level set on expectations and upcoming outcomes.

• Drive continuous process improvement across Focus Areas.

• Support Agile methodology consistency and commonality across the program.

• Facilitate and influence key transition processes and activities.

• Establish and support channels for teams to share information and best practices.

• Communicate program goals and scope to all program team members and ensure clear expectations across all focus areas.

• Ensure coordination across all focus areas and ensure the scope of work within each focus area aligns with program goals.

• Effectively track and manage program-level risks, issues and interdependencies driving towards resolution and escalating as needed.

• Provide relevant domain and technical expertise for effective program execution.

• Create and manage Program deliverables and manage all Program communications including recurring status updates to Executive Management team.

• Provide steady leadership in the face of uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines common to a large-scale, transformational initiative.

Skills Required


• 15+ years of IT Project/Program Management experience including management of large-scale complex programs and projects within Fortune 500 technology environments.

• Demonstrated understanding of Project Management in a software development environment and SDLC.

• Experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools and methodologies. (Waterfall/Agile)

• Advanced knowledge and use of MS Office Suite including Project and SharePoint.

• Extensive experience preparing and presenting effective presentations to Executive Leadership.

Skills Desired

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification

• Certified Product Owner (CPO) certification

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification

• Experience with Confluence, Jira, Jira Align, OnePlan (or similar tools)

Education Desired

Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, engineering, or a related discipline with an information technology focus; master's degree desirable.
