We're seeking Operating Room Registered Nurses for a travel nursing position in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate should possess 1-2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, and possibly RN first assistant. Check out the details below for more information.
As an OR Travel Nurse, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians and medical staff with the treatment of surgical patients. You'll also be involved in providing pre- and post-surgery care and educating patients. Circulating OR Nurses operate within the operating suite but outside the sterile field, while Scrub OR Nurses handle and prepare surgical instruments and equipment inside the sterile field. Duties may include preparing instruments for specific procedures, monitoring patients during surgery, and responding to any complications that may arise alongside the physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing basic bedside care.
- Administering prescribed medication and documenting its effects.
- Acting as a communication link between patients' families and the surgical team.
- Ensuring that the correct procedures are carried out on the right patients.
- Implementing patient education plans as directed by the physician, educating patients and families on medication management and home care.
Additional Responsibilities for Circulating OR Nurses:
- Addressing patient comfort and safety needs.
- Handling specimens carefully and accurately.
- Monitoring surgical equipment throughout procedures.
- Managing inventory of surgical items before and after procedures.
Additional Responsibilities for Scrub OR Nurses:
- Selecting and managing surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Managing inventory of surgical items before and after procedures.
Additional Responsibilities for RN First Assistants:
- Assisting physicians in providing direct surgical care.
- Assisting in controlling bleeding during procedures.
- Suturing patients post-surgery.
OR Travel Nurses should have the physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lean, and stoop for extended periods without any issues. They should also be able to lift 20 pounds effortlessly, and at times, lifting or moving patients may require handling up to 50 pounds. There may be potential hazards such as exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the operating room environment.
Requirements: ACLS, BLS, 2 Years of Experience
Additional certifications may be necessary before starting an assignment.
