Regional Sales Manager - Retail Chain to secure National and West Coast based retail accounts (Grocery, Chains, Club, Drug etc.).

The ideal candidate will have experience working for a beer, wine and spirits distributor or importer while possessing excellent customer service skills.

The successful candidate will work with the G.K. Skaggs, Inc. sales management team to establish a strong presence at the chain headquarters and field level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively call on the National and local retail chain buyers to present and sell our products and build long-term working relationships.
  • Collaborate with distributor Retail Chain Account Managers for each chain to establish a strong presence for G.K. Skaggs brands
  • Coordinate and submit pricing and programming for each chain.
  • Submit new item request forms for each chain.
  • Sell new accounts and new distribution along with achieving volume and sales goals.
  • Manage distributor-pricing models, programs and incentives.
  • Ensure the chain distributor organization has the proper resources, tools, information, and monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure the sales plan is executed.
  • Ensure that chain programs will build brand equity for all brands by ensuring they have proper position, promotion and price.
  • Ensure that all accounts participate in Promotional Programs.
  • Advise senior management of competitive pricing, promotions, sales trends and other competitive activity, as well as a reasonable action plan.
  • And ensure brands are visible, merchandised, and promoted throughout assigned market objectives.
  • Advise account buyers of all media activity, national promotions, unique point of sale items, etc.
  • Acquire and analyze brand sales by chain/market to facilitate growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the entire GKS Sales Team to establish brand standards by chain: Need excellent team communication skills to drive overall company objectives.
  • Monitor chain performance.
  • Attain annual placement, sales and profit goals for your area of responsibility.
  • Drive positive AC Nielsen brand performance measurements in assigned region.
  • Maintain a National Chain call calendar to track, monitor and ensure G.K. Skaggs submits chain calls on time
  • Participate in trade and consumer tasting events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance, Marketing, or related field or 5 years' experience in the beverage industry
  • 5+ years experience in the beverage or CPG industry
  • Must be familiar with the market overall and have established working relationships with key retail chain buyers and distributor sales personnel.
  • Consumer beverage sales and chain management experience including developing relationships, creating chain programs, launching new products, growing new and existing business and managing business profitability.
  • Professional, organized and ability to thrive in a highly competitive environment.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the beer, wine, and spirits industry
  • Goal orientated with proven track record of achieving sales and profit goals and creating positive relationships.
  • Ability and desire to travel frequently for meetings (MIN 25%), market visits and presentations.
  • Understanding of respective state compliance and liquor laws.
  • Persuasive public speaking and presentation skills as well as the ability to close deals.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Internet and email.
  • Proven track record of leveraging CRM systems and sales automation tools to drive productivity and enhance customer engagement
  • Able to comfortably lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Valid driver license and proof of current automobile insurance.
