Summary / Role Purpose

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive, enterprise data management program to achieve and maintain the level of data quality required to support business goals and objectives. The Data Governance Manager will be responsible to administer a data governance policy and standards that align compliance, architecture, information security, privacy, and records management policies into a coordinated use of data that meets enterprise requirements. The Data Governance Manager will be instrumental in leading an Enterprise Data Management Committee and related programs to monitor adherence to policies, standards, guidelines, and processes used to govern the company's data effectively and efficiently.

We are looking for a strong collaborator who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, is client-focused, team oriented, and is able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.

This position is remote although it requires traveling to corporate HQ based on business needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote the value of data governance and data management strategy across the enterprise
  • Lead the implementation of a data governance framework and key data governance artifacts (policies, standards, documentation, definitions, processes, templates, etc.)
  • Lead the Enterprise Data Management Committee
  • Advance data governance principles, policies, and programs for stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship of data
  • Collaborate with resources from the Business and Technology on various projects and initiatives to achieve governance objectives
  • Coordinate and align cross-functional resources
  • Track and manage improvement opportunities for standards, guidelines, and processes
  • Ensure data quality action plans are implemented where data fails to meet established data governance standards
  • Design and report on process performance metrics for data governance, data management, data quality and metadata management
  • Create and deliver education and training on data governance concepts, standards, guidelines, and processes

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, information technology, business administration, engineering, or another relevant field
  • 6 years' experience in establishing and running any of the following programs: data management, data governance, data quality, metadata management, or master data management
  • 2 years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within matrixed organizations
  • Dynamic relationship building and partnership skills; a strong collaborator with experience leading initiatives across multiple groups and stakeholders
  • Experience in integrating complex, cross-corporate processes, and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards
  • A strategic thinker who can establish and translate business objectives into actionable solutions
  • An energetic and self-motivated leader who can embrace and lead change

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • MBA or Masters in related field preferred
  • 10 or more years of overall work experience preferred
  • 5 years' experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Pardot and Siebel, Oracle databases and applications, data warehouse systems (Snowflake), and master data management tools
  • Certification in Project Management and/or Lean Agile Practices
  • Experience monitoring KPIs to measure effectiveness of data and analytic capital spend and ensure investments in people, systems and process enhancements deliver value
  • Prior experience in integrating and influencing others across a matrixed organization, and unlocking new opportunities to drive change, adoption, and excellence
  • Possess a broad set of working skills and knowledge across hardware, software systems and solutions development across more than one technical domain
  • Demonstrated understanding of data security, privacy (CCPA, GDPR, FERPA etc), regulatory and export compliance cyber security, data retention.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to develop materials and effectively present to and persuade executive audiences
  • Proven record of effective leadership including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, building teams and consensus, and getting things done through others not directly reporting to this individual.
  • Strong situational awareness and decision-making capabilities.
