Vetcove is seeking a highly motivated and proactive AR / AP Specialist to execute policies and procedures while scaling accounting systems and tools for growth. Reporting to our Senior Accounting Manager, this individual will be responsible for billing customers, reconciling cash receipts, the follow-up on any discrepancies or customer concerns, assisting with monthly close, and generating relevant reports (e.g. AR Aging, AP Aging). This role will utilize hands-on accounting experience and will have an in-depth understanding of accounting principles. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys the challenge of working at a fast-paced startup, solving problems, and pioneering processes to better streamline and enhance financial operations.

What you will do

  • Help with accounting, payroll, tax filing, invoicing, bank account tracking and reconciliation, expense management, budgeting, and payment processing via Quickbooks
  • Manage employee expenses and distribute reimbursements
  • Review, verify, and reconcile hours worked, pay adjustments, and other pay-related information, and post information onto designated records for independent contractors
  • Communicate with external vendors regarding receivable collections
  • Manage the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly and year-end consolidated financial statements and notes
  • Implement effective processes to forecast, track and manage all cash receipts and disbursements
  • Participate in internal and external audits by reviewing audit schedules, ensuring appropriate documentation, and providing evidence of controls performed
  • Continually identify issues in both process and accounting for transactions and propose solutions (in conjunction with auditors)
  • Prepare key reporting packages, financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, budget vs actuals analysis, and ad hoc analysis to understand and direct the financial state of business
  • Vendor account set up (W9, ACH, etc)
  • ACH payment compliance

You should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in accounting or finance
  • 2+ years of experience within accounting/finance at a growth-stage or late-stage startup, eCommerce or Marketplaces experience preferred
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Excellent oral, written, and quantitative communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of US GAAP principles
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel / Google Sheets (Experience with the below systems considered a plus: Quickbooks, Ramp, Acumatica)
  • Strong attention to details with analytical, organizational and research abilities​​
