Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

The certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes specialized education and clinical nursing skills to administer anesthesia care throughout the medical center.

The practice of nurse anesthesia is a recognized specialty within the profession of nursing. As an independently licensed health professional, the CRNA is responsible and accountable for his/her practice. The scope of practice includes direct patient care, administration, educational and research activities.


Major duties include, but are not limited to working with anesthesiologists, surgeons, other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures, providing direct care for patients before, during or after a medical procedure or surgery by performing patients' assessments; preparing patients for anesthesia, administering and maintaining anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management, overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia and caring for patients' immediate post-operative needs.


Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
