About the Role

Works with the eMotor Engineering eDrive Systems electrification group assisting with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op program. The student will assist the eMotor Design Engineers with the design, development, analysis, and testing of electric motors for electric traction drives (voltages < 1000V, I < 750A) for eDrive applications.

Team Summary:

A dynamic team that pushes boundaries, innovates, and is passionate about being part of the transformation from traditional Powertrain to eMobility. The team works together to uphold a professional, team based collaborative project culture and standards. The eMotor Engineering team will be a part of development projects for electric machines for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. The team of engineers are responsible for the detailed design and application of electric motors for propulsion. They develop new or modify existing products for new customer and/or internal product developments, following the defined product concept for eDrive products.

Your Responsibilities
  • Contribute to design and development of eDrive architecture by understanding system requirements and subsystem requirements related to the eMotor from both external and internal sources.
  • Perform eMotor requirements analysis and support modeling to define the optimum motor drive.
  • Carry out competitor analysis (benchmarking) of eDrive solutions in the transportation market.
Who we are looking for
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
  • Some level of analytical ability and understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Basic understanding of MATLAB and Python preferred.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced, team environment and perform assigned tasks related to the electrification of automobiles.
Your preferred qualifications
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Preferably working towards or has a Bachelor of Science in the field of Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferably have a good understanding of electromagnetic principles, electric circuits, and basic electric machine principle.
