The Packaging Machine Operator Lead provides general leadership to production team and ensures that safety and quality standards are maintained while capturing established productivity targets. The Packaging Machine Operator Lead supports continuous improvement activities and acts as a subject matter expert on processes and equipment within the department.

Work Hours: Weekends 6 PM-6 AM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

The Role

  • Assists leadership with the execution of daily production activities.
  • Ensures that any changes in processes or procedures are properly communicated and enacted by the team.
  • Assists Packaging leadership with improving performance through continuous improvement methodology and utilization of problem-solving tools to reduce unscheduled downtime, minor equipment stops, breakdowns, process upsets, material quality losses.
  • Assists in the execution of sanitation processes related to department equipment.
  • Trains and mentors team to develop an effective workforce.
  • Ensures proper delegation of tasks and utilization of personnel in alignment with production plan.
  • Assists employees in understanding safety procedures, proper use of PPE and assists in pro-actively identifying possible safety concerns to reduce the potential of safety-related incidents.
  • Complies with SQF, Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year(s) of manufacturing/logistics experience required.
  • 6+ months of people leadership/supervisory experience required. 1+ year(s) of people leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to receive direction and properly communicate to team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and buy-in.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear .
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
