Job Description:

At Regions, the Business Unit Data Scientist plays a key role in developing data-driven solutions to solve business challenges. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of quantitative analytics, data management, visualization, and programming. This position involves analyzing various data sources to achieve specific goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand requirements and develop data-driven solutions
  • Apply quantitative techniques to unlock value across different business functions
  • Utilize Big Data tools to create data analytics solutions
  • Assist in designing and building machine learning and AI models
  • Create visualizations to communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Extract insights from data to support decision-making
  • Deliver routine outputs while gaining a broader understanding of the work context
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions with experienced data scientists

This position is exempt from overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience or Master's degree in a related field

Preferences

  • Experience in banking or financial services
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or AI
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, R, Matlab, Scala, or Java
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies
  • Experience with libraries like TensorFlow, Pytorch, or Keras
  • Knowledge of Agile Software Development
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and/or Adobe Digital

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Understanding of relational databases and Hadoop-based data mining frameworks
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization tools
  • Proficiency in visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and IT leaders
  • Strong presentation and data visualization skills
This position may be filled at a higher level based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
  • Candidates with previous Python experience are highly preferred for this role.
