St. John's School seeks individuals passionate about teaching and learning who are excited by collaborating with colleagues and supporting students' intellectual curiosity and social-emotional development. We expect community members to engage in conversations that support ongoing professional development in their disciplines, embrace interdisciplinary opportunities, and help further our school's strategic initiatives, including community and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a course load of 4 sections of History 8 (United States History and Civics, Reconstruction to the present)
- Serve as an advisor for 12-14 students annually and guide and support the Social-Emotional Learning program.
- Work as a collaborative member of a grade-level and departmental team.
- Participate in a weeklong, grade-level overnight trip annually
- Engage in shared middle school responsibilities and duties, including our DaVinci activity periods, study halls, and student supervision. Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in history, history education, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum three years of relevant classroom teaching experience teaching middle school-aged students.

- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community.
- An understanding and demonstrated commitment to competency in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
