VA Northern California Health Care System provides advanced medical care to a diverse population of Veterans. Our practice is home to a large multidisciplinary dental practice, inclusive of general dentists and dental specialists. We also sponsor a General Practice Residency (GPR) program.
We are seeking a part-time (0.2 FTE) Oral Surgeon who will report directly to the Chief of Dental Services.
The part-time Oral Surgeon may choose to have their duty station at one of two locations: Sacramento, CA. (McClellan campus) or Mare Island, CA. or a combination of both and we are flexible on chosen days of work between Monday-Saturday.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual will be experienced and competent in all phases of OMS including but not limited to dentoalveolar surgery and complex dental extractions, treatment of orofacial infections, treatment of orofacial trauma, preprosthetic surgery, placement of osseointegrated implants, diagnostic procedures consistent with the practice of OMS, surgical treatment of oral and maxillofacial pathosis and grafting procedures including harvesting of graft material consistent with the practice of OMS.
The individual must be proficient in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment care in all the above areas. They must be trained and competent in providing IV conscious sedation and be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). They must be able to manage medically complex patients, including inpatients, and to perform a history and physical.

The individual must be able to work collegially with other dentists and physicians, and should possess the skills, both interpersonal and professional, to work with residents in OMS, other dental specialties, and Advanced General Dentistry.
Assignment includes advanced understanding and use of the computerized record system.

About Mare Island: Mare Island - City of Vallejo, CA
Mare Island was the nation's first naval station on the West Coast, commencing operations in 1854 and closing in 1996. Today, the City of Vallejo is partnering with The Mare Island Company to draft a new Specific Plan. The Mare Island Company will serve as the developer and manager of Mare Island, home to more than 100 businesses, Touro University, a nature preserve, trails, celebrated history, and a thriving residential community.
