Job Overview

UC and The College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies is now looking to fill the following position:

  • Assistant Professor, Educator
  • Appointment: Non-Tenure (Educator) Track
  • Date of Appointment: August 15, 2024
The role of Educator Professors encompasses teaching (80%+), service (5-10%), and scholarship (5-10%). This Educator Professor will support the Information Technology Co-op Unit within CCPS.

Essential Functions

Teaching (80%+)


The core responsibility of Assistant Professor Educator in CCPS is fostering the professional development of students and preparing them for cooperative education participation.


Specific responsibilities that support student success include:

  • Teaching professional development courses for designated majors.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop courses.
  • Designing curricula in alignment with student needs and the goals of the college(s)/unit(s) we support.
  • Organizing lessons that support learning outcomes.
  • Developing and leading interactive instruction (in person and online).
  • Monitoring student learning and course progress.
  • Preparing materials that are universally accessible (ADA Compliant)
  • Communicating effectively to students from diverse backgrounds
  • Advising students 1 on 1 or in small groups.
  • Valuing diversity in all forms and cultivating a culture of belonging.
  • Working collaboratively with our Partnership Development Team to create employment opportunities for students.
Service (5-10%) and Scholarship (5-10%)

Educator professors typically engage in service to their division, university, and profession by serving on boards and committees.

Scholarship activities typically involve research in their area of interest (e.g., leading to presentation and publication), including but not limited to understanding the impact of their teaching methods.

Scholarship activities also include professional development and demonstrated application of skills or knowledge acquired (e.g., the application of a new teaching method).

For all aspects of their role, they uphold the core values of the Division, including valuing diversity in all forms and cultivating a culture of belonging.

Where these activities are important, the primary responsibility of educator faculty is teaching-oriented.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree with minimum three years of professional work experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups.
  • Experience (or transferrable skills) that prepare the candidate to carry out the primary responsibilities of this position.
Additional Qualifications Considered

  • The credentials of the selected individual should illustrate successful instruction of cooperative education and/or academic internship curricula; the promotion or development of experience based educational opportunities; experience working with external partners (e.
g., industry); and potential for achievement in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. Individual major assignments will be subject to enrollment at the time of appointment.

  • Experience working with information technology, cybersecurity, and/or computing related students
  • Evidence of effective professional development/career education instruction
  • Experience in career advising, consulting, talent development, and/or co op program management
  • Evidence of strong industrial relationships/partnerships
  • Experience working with nontraditional students (e.
g., adult learners, online learners, career changers)

Appointment Information


Reappointment, Promotion, Tenure (RPT): This appointment may be renewed under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), provided one's performance satisfies the criteria of the department's guidelines for reappointment, program need, available budget, and upon approval by the Provost.
