Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide direct social work services and mental health treatment in the school setting to students in Dorchester County who are enrolled in the School-Based Wellness Center Program. This will involve consultation with other Wellness Center providers, school personnel and professionals in the community who may refer a student or have a connection to the student. This position will interview student clients and their families to evaluate the nature and degree of problems, develop a treatment plan and provide ongoing therapeutic counseling or referrals as indicated from the assessment. In addition to individual therapy, this position may provide family therapy, group therapy and case management services to the identified client. This position will also work with the other members of the health care team to help them better understand the social and emotional factors underlying a student's health problems.\r

Appropriate documentation and data collection are also responsibilities of this position as stated in the Policy and Procedure manual.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers. \r
Experience:�Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university. \r
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a�commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social�Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience. \r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health�Testing Unit. \r
2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
