Ideal candidates for this position will have experience modeling a student-centered teaching philosophy, emphasize problem solving strategies, guide students in project management through modeling, and demonstrate expertise in differentiation in teaching students. A strong proficiency with technology appropriate to the classroom is integral to this role. Headwaters High School proudly offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) to all students in the 11th and 12th grades. Candidates with IB experience and training are encouraged to apply.

The course load for this position will include teaching: 1 section of middle school film, two sections of the high school film elective, two sections of IB Film (Year 1 and Year 2, respectively) and leading an advisory. Although IBDP experience is preferred, it is not a barrier to entry as Headwaters School will provide IBDP training for teachers. Our ideal candidate for this position will be able to teach film/video/cinema arts and production and post-production audio and video technologies. Candidates will also be interested in and ready to participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to: supervision of lunch, teaching an elective, coaching, sponsoring a club, chaperoning field trips, attending our all school retreat (2 nights and 3 days in the fall) and other duties as assigned by the High School Director.

Teaching Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, degree in film, television, or cinema arts preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to teach any grade level of middle and high school Film required
  • At least three years prior experience teaching in a middle school or high school setting with demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, preferred Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:
