Shift: On-Site, 10:30AM-1:30PM, 12 Hours Per Week

No weekend work required

Position Summary: As a valuable member of the Suburban healthcare team, the Art Therapist utilizes active art creation, creative techniques, and psychological principles to assist patients in achieving their treatment goals. Through Art Therapy, they help patients express emotions, enhance functions, foster self-esteem, promote resilience, and improve insight while reducing conflicts and distress. Art Therapists provide culturally sensitive therapy within the healthcare setting, collaborating with other professionals to tailor sessions to individual needs, ultimately supporting patients' well-being and healing journey.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Practice Art Therapy following Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists guidelines.
  • Deliver comprehensive Art Therapy services to address patients' psychological, cognitive, emotional, and social needs.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family Art Therapy sessions with short and long-term goals based on assessments.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of Art Therapy sessions in patient charts.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to inform care planning based on art therapy sessions.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Master's degree in Art Education with a focus on Group Therapy.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a mental health care setting.
  • Proficiency in leading group therapy sessions and creating a supportive environment.
  • CPR certification within six months of employment.
  • Licensure as an LGPAT or LCPAT.
