The Illustration and Interactive Media department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Successful candidates will be industry-leading digital designers, with award-winning design sensibility and outstanding conceptual ability in pairing design and digital technology. We are looking for experts in the following areas: web design, user experience design (UX), user interface design (UI), motion graphics, 3D modeling, augmented reality (AI), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR).
Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades in a timely manner. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog .
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in digital design.A minimum of six (6) years of current, high level industry experience.An online portfolio showcasing recent professional projects for national or international clients.An advanced understanding of current interactive and multimedia design concepts, principles, and workflow.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching college-level course highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Award-winning design sensibilityAbility to teach technical courses as well as design studiosExpertise in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and IndesignExpertise in UX/UI design tools such as Figma and ProtopieExpertise in responsive web design and developing design systemsExpertise in front-end developmentExpertise in After Effects and/or PremiereExpertise in audio/sound designExpertise in 3D modeling software such as Blender and Fusion 360Expertise in open-source electronic prototyping platform such as arduinoExpertise in augmented reality (AI), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies.Expertise in social media campaign and promotion
MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:
This position will be required to continuously read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze, and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Fall 2023. Successful candidates will teach classes in Creative Technology & Design subject area as well as in the Animation, Interactive Media and Game Design BFA. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The department will contact applicants who qualifications fit our programmatic needs.
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.
Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
