Under the direction of a radiologist, performs Mammographic and Radiographic exams at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
Perform ICAD Second Look Procedure on Screening and Diagnostic Mammograms to generate printed results for the radiologist.
Responsible to perform ICAD Quality Assurance procedures daily, weekly and monthly according to QA guidelines.
Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
Assigned role of clinical mentor to the students enrolled in Mercy Medical Center School of Radiography.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to their age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the units/areas/departments policies and procedures.
Participates in educational programs to maintain levels of proficiency.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs Digital Mammographic, Bone Density, and Radiographic high-quality images for dictation.
Competent to operate mammography, bone density, and diagnostic radiography equipment to ensure patient safety Responsible for a clean and organized work area.
Responsible for daily patient workflow, including prioritizing and coordinating additional patient exams and or efficient dictation times.
Capable of explaining all exams and or procedures to patients within the Mammography, Bone Density, and Outpatient Diagnostic rooms.
Ability to asses patients prior to breast procedures.
Able to answer patients questions and concerns in regards to procedure.
Can comfort patient and understand their emotional responses Performs and records equipment QA testing.
Reviews Mammography Patient Questioner with patient and communicates information to reading radiologist.
Obtains all relative patient history for appropriate exams.
Utilizes correct markers for scars, moles and prior biopsy procedures.
Responsible for correct labeling of breast and positions.
Will evaluate images with Radiologist when appropriate and needed for best patient practice.
Perform Patient Identification process on every patient every time Verify and review all patient information and requests including but not limited to prior reports and imaging, in EPIC system prior to performing exam.
Performs all required documentation in EPIC system.
Performs all required scanning and documentation in PACS system.
Responsible for practicing clean technique for all exam imaging.
Responsible for practicing sterile technique protocol during procedures Responsible to assist radiologist and or Surgeon when necessary.
Assist transport of patients to and from department when necessary Responsible to read and communicate with CH email Requirements:

Education:
Graduate of a 2-year AMA approved radiography program.

Experience/skills:
Recent Graduate.
Must be able to make decisions and use judgment regarding selection of equipment and best technique in process of production of radiographs, sonograms and bone densitometry studies.
Must be able to evaluate patients condition in order to assist in emergency treatment.
Assessment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

Licensure:
New York State license:
ARRT certification in Radiography or eligible, ARRT certification in Mammography or eligible Posted Salary Range:

USD $ USD $58.80 /Hr.
