Job Description
  • Coordinate with 3rd party preparer the timely submission of sales tax compliance data
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax returns before initiating funding.
  • Document, monitor, and update internal desktop procedures and process maps for compliance activities.
  • Recommend compliance process improvements to improve data capture and increase efficiencies.
  • Work closely with the plants and other locations to ensures sales and use tax registrations and business license applications are completed for existing as well as new locations.
  • Monitor timely filing and maintenance of state and local tax incentives requirements
  • Maintain and monitor internal sales and use tax mailbox requests
  • Manage and maintain customer exemption certificates
  • Review requests for exemption certificates to be provided to vendors and issue as appropriate
  • Maintain compliance/tax calendar for preparation, processing, and filing of sales and use tax data, required for filings.
  • Periodic review of state filing requirements by tax entity.
  • Act as a resource for sales tax audits and filing for sales tax overpayments within the appropriate states and jurisdictions.
  • Reconcile tax accounts in general ledger
  • Assist with response to internal audit requests and sales tax audit information requests.
  • Assist in identification of risk and opportunities to the business as it relates to indirect taxes.
  • Prepare dashboards, management reporting and other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Understanding of Accounting and Taxation principles in order to analyze financial information and prepare various tax filings.
  • Proficiency in current technology applications to drive efficiency through automation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; using formulas and functions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly to resolve issues and provide solutions
  • Ability to stay focused on tasks, particularly while managing multiple tasks/projects
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others toward mutual objectives and ability to influence across cross functional terms.
