Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully trained on a wide variety of golf maintenance equipment and met skill and knowledge requirements for this level
  • Performs pre-inspection of equipment (check for hydraulic leaks, check engine oil, check all systems are in order, check fuel level)
  • Responsible for ensuring mower is operating properly and quality of cut meets our standards.
  • Identifies and report irregularities with mowing operation to supervisor or manager
  • Operates riding mowers, walking greens mowers, aerifiers, sweepers and tractors on fairways, roughs and resort ground turf areas.
  • Assists in cultivation practices dealing with all turf areas.
  • Report all abnormalities on the golf course such as damage disease, insects, debris, etc.
  • Operate mechanical loaders in moving soil, debris, and other materials
  • Interact with golfers, answer questions and provide directions
  • Operate small power mowers, trimmers, edgers and backpack blowers on designated area of the golf course Grade and prepare soil plant beds, lays sod and plants vegetative material
  • Water and fertilize putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs and any other related turf areas
  • Hand labor including raking and shoveling.
  • Weeding beds along courses.
  • Repairing divots and course clean-up
  • Grade and prepare soil, plant beds, lays sod and plants vegetative material.
  • Perform routine bunker maintenance and / or bunker renovation
  • Keep course edged and pruned, divots in proper condition and monitor drainage
  • Repair washouts on golf course
  • Participate as support staff on any given project
  • Maintain ball washers, coolers, course signage, course roping, flags, cups, and tee marker.
  • Inform golfers of course conditions, rules and specific instructions for the day
  • Utilize electric cart and / or gator etc.
  • Keep storage area clean, organized and stocked
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance defects to Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of six months of experience as a greenskeeper and has met skills and knowledge requirements for this level.
  • Has the knowledge and aptitude to operate all riding mowers and heavy power equipment utilized on Golf Course.
  • Understanding of the basic principles of golf preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Capable of performing role in a busy work environment
  • Capable of working scheduled hours, including weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays
  • Proficient in reading safety procedures and operating guidelines / instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and / or reach repeatedly
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds and carry, pull, and push heavy objects and materials
  • Able to be on feet and moving around for entire shift
  • Subject to environmental conditions, work activities can occur inside and outside
  • Ability to see, hear, smell and have manual dexterity to use all equipment
