We are looking for a Research Administrator to lead our Research Integrity team. This is a full-time exempt position on our campus in Boise, Idaho; Relocation Stipend is available.

As the Administrator, you will lead our Research Integrity team, a group of 12 experienced and dedicated professionals who work closely with patients while assisting our clinicians and staff to provide excellent patient care. The Research Integrity Department facilitates all aspects of the 38 research trials currently conducted at Saint Alphonsus by providing tactical/operational management. The Research Administrator has responsibility for business functions and day-to-day operations for the full range of research projects and takes direction from the CMO.

The CMO, Research Administrator, and research staff will work together to develop and implement the Research Program, promote research services to internal and external stakeholders, encourage research activities, and work to enhance physician relations. The Research Administrator is responsible for aligning research with the organization's strategic objectives as well as the Foundation and the Medical Staff Office.

Our ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent business acumen and understanding of healthcare business/operational processes, superb administration skills, and research experience.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clinical background in nursing, medicine, or other relevant scientific area is preferred.
  • Management and supervisory skills and experience preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Research experience preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of financial processes including AP, AR and financial reporting.
  • Ability to set workload priorities, attention to detail, organizational planning.
  • Excellent communications skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and oversee a distributed team.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to define issues clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated success at communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, especially senior leadership, medical staff and department heads.
  • Leadership abilities and demonstrated credibility with peers and physicians.
  • Excellent understanding of contract administration with contract negotiation experience preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA, MHSA, MPH (or similar degree) or PhD preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides tactical/operational management of all areas of the Research Program including grants and contract administration, finance/billing, regulatory/integrity, and research projects.
  • Advises on the strategic direction for the Research Program.
  • Participates as a non-voting member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB); works in tandem with partners to provide administrative direction to the IRB.
  • Develops relationships with external research customers that may include local and regional Universities, businesses, other research organizations, members of the medical community, local government, and members of the community.
  • Directs IRB operations as well as maintaining the required regulatory structure necessary to partner with external (Central) IRBs for oversight of Saint Alphonsus clinical trials.
  • Oversees the creation and implementation of policies that align with CFR Title 45 Part 46 and CFR Title 21. Serves as a resource to principal investigators.
  • Ensures compliance with all legal requirements for clinical trial agreements and other research contracts; maintains terms of negotiated research agreements.
  • Works in conjunction with medical leadership to develop Graduate Medical Education.
  • Supports translation of clinical research into evidence-based practice.
  • Promotes growth through relationship-building, education, publication, and presentation of research findings.
  • Functions as an advocate in the area of institutional research administration policy implementation, especially business process and revenue integrity aspects.
  • Oversees the development of an effective education program and is available for principal investigators and research staff regarding compliance, grant management and submission, scientific misconduct etc.
  • Develops and implements standards of expectation, systems to objectively monitor progress, and centralized policies and services that promote and facilitate the conduct of research in a manner that meets all federal standards in terms of compliance and ethics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and performs all work at the direction of the CMO.
