Job Summary

This is a great opportunity for a Financial Analyst who is looking to develop his/her skillset while gaining exposure to a variety of corporate accounting and finance areas. The position will report to the Finance Manager.

Our team is responsible for the accounting and administration of 1,500+ leases for 20+ operating companies in our cloud-based lease administration software, as well as the month end close, budgeting and forecasting for corporate. The Financial Analyst's primary role will be to play a key role in managing and coordinating the IFRS and US GAAP reporting for leases and supporting the accounting manager in the budgeting process and monthly variance reporting for the two largest Corporate departments, and other related reporting matters. This is a vital role with future opportunity for career progression as the business grows. The candidate should be detail-oriented, trustworthy, motivated with a focus on business partnerships and process improvement.

  • Reporting: Liaise and coordinate the monthly and quarterly IFRS and US GAAP reporting for leases between the accounting team and financial reporting team
  • Corporate Accounting and Reporting: Assist with the monthly closing process, by reviewing the GL and department P&Ls and analyzing the data to ensure accounting records are properly stated and performing ad hoc financial reporting and analysis. Prepare departmental expense reporting and balance sheet reconciliations for manager review and approval in alignment with corporate finance deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Lease Reporting: Understand the reporting requirements under IFRS and US GAAP and review lease data to ensure accuracy for reporting to the parent company
  • Month-end/Year-end Reporting: Assist the period-end closing process by ensuring the accurate books and records through analysis and reconciliations. Prepare Operating Cash Flow Forecasts, upon request. Assist in the reconciliation of the debt statement activity with the parent company
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Partner with and provide support to the accounting team and corporate department owners throughout the annual budgeting and forecast process, by meeting to review actual expenses to date, updating the annual spend and determining the following year's budget. Create the corresponding presentations to review with budget owners
  • Reporting: Preparation of reporting for parent company and IFRS disclosures for lease accounting and other areas
  • Process improvement: Recommend and lead improvements to current processes
  • Collaboration: Maintain a great working relationship within our corporate finance team and with the teams in the divisions and departments by providing outstanding customer service
  • Ad hoc: Support ad hoc financial information requests, analyses, and other special projects, as assigned

Requirements

  • Education & Work Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
    • 1+ years related work experience in Accounting or Finance (public or private)
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Lease administration software, ERP and general ledger accounting experience is a plus
    • Assisted with month end close activities
