This position serves as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Women's Health) for the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, OK. The incumbent serves as a member of the health care team who provides direct and comprehensive primary, preventive and therapeutic health care to women. This position reports to the Clinical Director of the facility.
Duties
- Orders and/or performs screening and diagnostic tests and procedures (lab studies, x-rays, ultrasounds, fetal monitoring, etc.)
- Provides surveillance of medical regimens for pregnant women, recognizing when to refer the patient to a physician or other health area team member.
- Performs minor surgical and invasive procedures i.e., insertion and/or removal of birth control capsules and/or implants.
- Makes diagnosis and decisions concerning medical and nursing care needs of the patient, formulates and implements a plan of care which may involve various treatment modalities, prescribes medications, consults with other health care providers.
- Documents data, patient assessment and care plan in acceptable form in the electronic medical record.
