The incumbent inspects and completes comprehensive building-facility condition assessments on a wide range of building types and structures located at dispersed contract site operating locations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Completes comprehensive condition assessments and engineering evaluations of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and site systems.
  • Accesses a variety of buildings, facilities and utility spaces to permit visual assessments, this includes accessing mechanical/electrical/plumbing rooms and spaces, occupied spaces, building roofs, and exterior site systems.
  • Blends building systems knowledge and technical expertise with detailed and thorough writing skills to complete written reports on building conditions and asset lifecycle projections.
  • Photographs and documents facility repair and replacement deficiencies and opportunities.
  • Aggregates and compiles a building's individual Architectural and MEP components and prepare reports that discuss the summary description and condition of the building.
  • Reviews available construction drawings (blueprints) to determine building construction and equipment types/quantities.
  • Conducts Health & Safety surveys and reviews as it would pertain to the whole building.
  • Develops detailed cost estimates for implementing maintenance and capital expenditure projects.
  • Provides strategic advice from a client-facing position and successfully delivers projects in response to requirements.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's' Degree in Engineering, Construction or equivalent combination of academic/technical/military training and 8 or more years' experience in a facilities or construction management environment.
  • Experience in facilities management, construction, or an associated engineering field is preferable. Industry-recognized certifications in engineering, facilities, architecture, or project management are desired.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of various building types, construction systems and repair/replacement methods.
  • This includes architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Possess or obtain knowledge of, internal assessment software SMS (Sustainment Management System).
  • Possess knowledge of and produce high quality written reports and data collection, using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and mobile tablet devices.
  • Adept at handling multiple projects in a condensed timeframe to meet strict deadlines.
  • Qualify for and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a US Government security clearance.
  • Possess a valid state issued driver's license.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

This position requires high travel expectancy balanced with time in a site office. Frequency of work related site travel will be up to 60-80% of time carrying out site-based assessments. Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
