This is a hybrid-remote position reporting to the Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI office. Candidates must reside in Iowa or Wisconsin.

What you will do

  • Provides compensation analysis through activities such as managing the maintenance of job descriptions, reviewing associated reporting information such as Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status and equal employment opportunity (EEO) job categories, modeling salary and performance pay programs, and auditing pay program eligibility.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative, legal, and regulatory developments pertinent to focal area and the compensation and benefits area in general.
  • Guides data gathering, reporting, and auditing, in support of all various Total Rewards projects and decisions. Develops dynamic tools and models to interpret and analyze data, support management decision-making, and simplify processes.
  • Provides benefit and compensation reporting and response to internal and external requests regarding plans and participation for or pertaining to current or former employees.
  • Assists in research and development of proposals for bargaining unit negotiations and implementing new labor agreement provisions.
  • Manages the administration of data, documents, policies, and procedures related to benefits and compensation by coordinating the organization and long-term storage of records in the central data systems.
  • Coordinates participation in annual pay, benefits, policy and practices, executive and salary structure market surveys, and the associated analysis and modeling of potential changes based on this market data.
  • Assists with benefit enrollment process and new employee benefit communications.
  • Assists with employee benefits programs, e.g., medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending account (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) accounts, employee assistance programs, leave of absences, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), time off plans, retirement plans, and the 401k Plan), as well as assist with daily benefits system support and reporting.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in human resources, business administration, or related area is preferred.

Required Experience

  • 4 years' experience in human resources with exposure to one or more of the following areas: broad-based compensation, retirement programs, health and welfare programs, or similar analytical role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated effective analytical skills and ability to successfully perform accurate in-depth analysis.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management). Previous HRMS experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
