The UHealth System at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacist Technician 2 at our Specialty Pharmacy in Medley. The Pharmacist Technician 2 prepares medications for patients under the guidance of a Pharmacist. Assists the Pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions, price-checking, restocking of drugs, and assists with basic compounding.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.
- Assists pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
- Receives and stocks incoming medical supplies and drugs.
- Assists with compounding (didactic and/or basic hands-on).
- Participates in assigned training program and continuing education activities to attain competency in different technician duty areas. Volunteers for extra assignments and/or cross training in other department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
- May volunteer to participate in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee. Acts as an informal resource for other technicians with less experience.
- Provides support in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
- Serves as a mentor and role model.
- Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
