What you will do:

  • Provide coordination, guidance, and support for the safety programs/processes at the Geismar plant
  • Serve as the safety liaison for assigned operations and maintenance departments
  • Monitor work areas for compliance of safety policies throughout the plant
  • Coordinate the Hazard Communication program for the site
  • Provide safety support for nested and non-nested contractor groups
  • Monitor safety audits and JHAs and provide feedback to Safety Superintendent and HS&E Manager
  • Conduct safety meetings and safety audits
  • Assist in Industrial Hygiene monitoring of the Geismar site
  • Ensure implementation of Nutrien safety guidance documents and participate in incident investigations
  • Serve as the fire protection subject matter expert
  • Order/recommend safety supplies and equipment
  • Serve as an active member of the Emergency Response Team and assist coordinating drills on site (Training, Equipment, Drills, Implementation of ERP, etc.)
  • Comply with environmental rules and regulations
  • Develop and conduct annual required safety training as well as contractor kick-off meetings
  • Attend emergency response training

What you will bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Post high school technical training in safety and emergency response disciplines; Associate/Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years safety experience in an industrial setting preferred; prior exposure to BST behavioral based safety process is a plus
  • Some knowledge/experience in PSM compliance
  • Experience in Emergency Response, Haz-Mat, Fire or Rescue desirable
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards and its insurers
  • Ability to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration)
  • ASP/CSP Desired
  • Must have experience in training and instructing employees
