Job Description

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated department manager to lead a new regional architectural department.

This position will be located in one of the following Eastern Regional offices of: Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Middleton, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; Charleston, SC; Lexington, SC, or Chicago, IL. The precise geographical area of the department will be defined after the interview and selection process. The selected department manager is expected to report to one of the noted offices a minimum of 3 days per week. Relocation benefits are available. Travel will be required.

Responsibilities include financial performance of the department; supervising, managing, and mentoring department staff; business planning; contract and risk management; oversight of client service; project management; and participating in business development strategy and opportunities.

The position will be responsible for the architectural services provided within a certain geographic region of the country, for all markets that we serve, such as aviation, military, government, and private clients. The position will report to the Architecture East Business Unit Leader.

The successful candidate will have the following: a bachelor's degree (or higher) in architecture, engineering, interior design, or related field, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, though 10+ years is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

  • experience managing architectural projects (scope, schedule, budget, project planning, resource management, change management, etc.)
  • experience negotiating and administering contracts
  • experience developing new business opportunities
  • experience supervising, mentoring, and developing architectural staff
  • professional licensure
  • architectural design and contract document preparation experience
  • office location within the geographic region of the department
