About the Team

Coupang Media Group (CMG) is the ads division of Coupang. Our mission is to provide the best advertising solutions in the world for our clients. CMG is obsessed with optimizing the entire customer journey to provide great outcomes for shoppers and advertisers. CMG is looking for a seasoned product management leader to define and execute the strategy of the Product/Sponsored Ads product.

The Role

The senior leader on the team will be responsible for CMG's AI/ML prediction models that power ad rankings, targeting, bidding, supply and demand optimization. This team also owns all aspects of relevance, personalization, and optimization of the entire ads marketplace across all campaign types and creatives. Specifically, the leader will drive the strategic direction and execution of initiatives that results in improving our shopper experience by surfacing highly relevant and converting ads across the shopper journey, including search results page, product details page, and more.This leader will play a hands-on role with the potential of building out a team of product managers focusing on Ads ML stack.

Core responsibilities:

  • You'll lead the initiative of improving the conversion rate from ads across the Coupang Marketplace. You will improve the quality and relevance of ad products that we surface to shoppers, thereby, driving higher value for our advertisers.
  • You'll drive product definition, strategy, and long-term vision to address challenging problems while balancing advertiser, user and Coupang value in a fast moving and constantly evolving environment.
  • You'll own diving deep into ambiguous problem statements to identify the biggest bottlenecks, define success and drive features that address the problem and unlock value.
  • You'll lead the team that builds, measures, and iterates rapidly by running data-driven experiments to inform product direction. You'll define product requirements and success criteria.
  • You'll launch and improve ad products that surface highly relevant results for shoppers and improve return for advertisers.
  • You'll effectively communicate, collaborate, and drive alignment with a variety of stakeholders including senior executives to ensure highly scalable and performance end-to-end experience for advertisers and shoppers.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in product management, 5+ years of leadership ideally growing early-stage products, ideally in the ads domain
  • Experience managing 0-1 products and growing them with urgency in a sustainable manner
  • Building mature, self reliant and resilient teams and organizations that thrive on delivering difficult goals
  • Experience managing and communicating effectively with executives and other stakeholders
  • Experience working and influencing cross-functionally and building relationships across teams, including with people outside the direct reporting chain and senior executives
  • Experience defining product roadmaps, resourcing needs to achieve goals and effectively advocating for those
  • Experience building and taking to market publisher facing products, ideally in the advertising space

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in an analytical or engineering discipline or MBA preferred
  • Experience working in international environments and globally distributed team

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $207,900/year in our lowest geographic market to $386,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
