The Department of Ophthalmology is currently seeking a Sr. Manager, Research Support to work at the McKnight Vision Research Center in Miami. The Senior Manager, Research Support leads the research program teams to ensure successful system implementation and upgrades. Specifically, the Senior Manager, Research Support oversees the day-to-day operations and resources of research staff and supports programs for their growth and development.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Conducts meetings with research staff and ensures functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Provides technical support and resolves operational problems.
3. Oversees department budget and identifies areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
4. Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts.
5. Recruits and trains research staff and prepares performance reports and disciplinary recommendations for the leadership team.
6. Analyzes reports, data briefs, and auxiliary publications for new topic modules.
7. Defines and produces indicators for a data visualization platform.
8. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions
· Oversee the Swept Source and Spectral Domain Research Programs across all study sites
· Maintain metrics on the work performed across the research related equipment
· Acquire images per research specifications.
· Work with vendors to troubleshoot imaging equipment.
· Acquire and maintain imaging skills on new instruments which may involve optical coherence tomography (OCT) instrumentation.
· Maintain regulatory and IRB documentation for research protocols
· Conduct informed consent process on study patients
· Ensure compliance on study imaging protocols which includes equipment such as: SS-OCT, SD-OCT, etc.
· Serve as back-up imager for Clinical Research Services research team which includes certification with different reading centers
· Perform highly skilled imaging in a high-volume clinic
· Assist clinicians with special projects for potential publication and seminars
· Travel to different sites as needed to perform this work

Education:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
