Position Summary

The purpose of the Domestic Violence Clinic Legal Assistant and Office Coordinator position is to provide a wide variety of clerical, technical, and administrative services related to the smooth and effective functioning of the Domestic Violence (DV) Clinic. Duties include client contact and intake, preparation and filing of legal documents, organizing and maintaining client files, assisting attorneys and students with trial preparation, scheduling, providing assistance with grant data gathering and reporting, communication (face-to-face, electronic, telephone) with staff, clients, students, faculty, and community partners, and other duties as assigned for the function of the office. This position reports to the Director of the Domestic Violence Clinic.


Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of general clerical experience.

One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

  • An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience or education in the legal field.
  • Prior experience in a university and/or law office setting.
