​Our client, a leading renewable energy developer, is hiring an Environmental Permitting Manager.

Additionally, you will play a key role in guiding utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects through the development process. As an Environmental Permitting Manager, you will contribute to the success of sustainable energy initiatives by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and facilitating the permitting process.

The company develops, constructs, owns & and operates wind, and solar energy projects. They have developed and commercialized more than 1.1 GW of clean energy projects and have more than 6 GW of clean energy projects under development. The projects are in MISO, PJM, ERCOT, NYISO & ISO-NE.

Responsibilities:
  1. Permitting Process Oversight:
  • Lead and manage the environmental permitting process for utility-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects from initiation to completion.
  • Moreover, work closely with regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits and approvals.
Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and implement mitigation measures as required.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory authorities to address environmental concerns and ensure alignment with project goals.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, environmental impact reports, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on the permitting status to project teams and management.
Risk Assessment:
  • Identify environmental risks associated with projects and develop strategies to minimize potential impacts.
  • Furthermore, advise project teams on best practices for environmental risk management.
Community Engagement:
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address environmental concerns and build positive relationships.
  • Lastly. participate in public meetings and hearings related to environmental permitting.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (7 years) in environmental permitting for utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind and solar.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • In addition, strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Moreover, excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Furthermore, the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Background in environmental studies.
  • Additionally, proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Lastly, authorized to work in the U.S, in addition to travel up to 30%

  • Reports to the Vice President, Development.
