This individual contributor role, the Senior Director Technology, will lead and motivate a team of engineers by providing technical vision and direction to the Security and Operations pillar, one of the key pillars of the United AI Studio (UAIS). Bringing proven leadership experience to the role, you will drive the product roadmap for the UAIS, collaborate across the enterprise, including global teams, to meet goals of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead engineering teams for conceptualizing, designing, developing, and maintaining vital elements of UAIS PlatformRaise the bar on excellence in execution in terms of quality, timeliness, and scalabilityTake accountability for Key Engineering Metrics of the platform namely Availability, response time metrics, Time to Value and Time to buildDevelop and Evolve Engineering and product roadmap of UAISCollaborate with counterparts in other Geographical locations to ensure smooth execution of critical projects across the boardDrive talent transformation as per the needs of BusinessKey leadership responsibility in Optum AI to plan and develop talent, process, and capabilities within the organizationRecommends applicable technical patterns and solutions that are aligned with architectural guiding principles and standards through a regular cadence of delivery and continuous improvement initiativesDeep technical expertise to review designs and architecturesCollaborates closely with Product and Capability Architects on aligning inferred Solutions and Enterprise architecture to granular technical patterns and solutionsDrives technology modernization activities with architects and engineering teams including a shift to modular, data centric, open-source, and cloud-native technologiesGoverns technical debt and promotes balance with Technical Product Management in achieving architectural objectives through influencing of Product, Capability, and Engineering backlogsWorks closely with Technical Product Owners in plotting required Enablers to support business feature teams on the Architecture Runway, ensuring full lifecycle delivery through CI / CD pipelineImprove Engineering culture of the team

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any STEM discipline14+ years of software engineering experience leading geographically distributed teams8+ years of experience working with an Agile development methodology5+ years of experience in working in cloud-native environments4+ years of solid project planning and execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules 3+ years of expertise in cloud security and ability to build highly secure enterprise platforms3+ years of experience operating in an environment that utilizes metrics & Engineering best practices, including a track record of quickly addressing engineering bottlenecks

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
