If selected for this position, with an assigned duty station of Washington, D.C., you may be eligible for limited telework with approval from your supervisor, based on onsite duties and responsibilities, while the current headquarters is decommissioned and the future headquarters is being built.
Upon completion of the new headquarters offices in Suitland, MD, you will be expected to report to the Suitland Federal Center after receiving notification to do so.
At that time, you may be eligible to telework with approval from your supervisor, based on onsite duties and responsibilities, and if consistent with telework policies and mission needs of BLS.
As a Supervisory Economist with the Division of Industrial Prices and Price Indexes (DIPPI) you will:Serve as the principal advisor to the Section Chief concerning the industries assigned and provide assistance and advice formulating work program and setting and adjusting priorities.
Implement the working program and procedures, ensure accuracy and quality of program data, and resolve data quality problems.Plan and manage special projects as a team leader and participate in special projects as a team member.
Formulate work program and priorities, provide guidance/training/disciplines to staff, and monitor team performance.
Hear and recommend appropriate resolution of employee concerns and complaints.
Develop plans to meet program goals, adjust work plans and objectives, assign work to subordinates, monitor and reviews the Monthly Index Production for data accuracy, and evaluate program accomplishment.
Propose and manage process enhancements to improve efficiency.Ensure current pricing problems are solved expeditiously and in accordance with proper index methodology.
Initiate, plan, supervise preparation of analytical memoranda, articles, and reports that examine the relationship of PPI movements to the specific cost, supply-demand, technological, and marketing context of the industries involved.
Prepare status reports and recommendations for program changes to ensure the continuing high quality of data produced.
