About the Role

In this role, you will work with colleagues in diverse functions including underwriting, risk management, portfolio management and pricing actuaries. In addition to the day-to-day tasks, you will contribute to activities linked to the elaboration and implementation of the strategy of the Global Credit & Surety, Corporate solutions Unit.

You will be part of the Deal Teams for our North America Commercial Surety and Trade Finance activities and be responsible for:

  • Professional and profound credit risk /credit rating assessment and financial analysis of a diverse set of industrial corporates.
  • Approval/recommendation of credit limits in line with internal policies and standards
  • Evaluation of transaction structures, delivery of objective, risk-related inputs on transactions and obligors as well as recommendation on credit risk mitigation and loss prevention.
  • At the request of Underwriters, perform initial screenings and vetting of obligor risks
  • Monitoring of credit exposures to assess the potential impact of market events on specific obligors or portfolios.
  • Identification of high-risk companies and potential recommendations on watchlist placements.
  • Contribution towards shaping data and technology driven transformation of our Credit & Surety business.

About the Team

The Credit Product Centre is a globally distributed team with presence in Sao Paulo, Kansas City, Frankfurt, Munich, Bratislava, Zurich, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The Credit Product Centre also maintains direct contact to diverse senior management throughout Swiss Re by acting as the key Credit & Surety link with Swiss Re Group Risk Management, Legal, Operations, Finance, Claims, Actuarial (pricing and reserving) and Information Technology.

We take pride in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of methods and tools used to support obligor and transaction risk assessment and timely monitoring and oversight of the in-force Credit & Surety portfolio.

About You

You're a self-starter, organized and able to successfully handle multiple priorities and deadlines, managing diverse projects and tasks simultaneously. You possess convincing interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relations in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment. You are pragmatic with sound judgment and excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.

Additional requirements include:

  • 4-7 years of experience in corporate credit risk analysis in a credit risk management or similar function. Knowledge of corporate loans is a significant plus.
  • Strong credit risk assessment skills with focus on the US market but a demonstrated ability to apply skills to a global environment.
  • Ability to go "beyond the financials" in enriching the credit analysis with the most current economic, industry and market sentiments.
  • Proficient in financial spreading, financial projections, experience in handling of credit application documents.
  • Ability to critically question rationales behind transaction applications and obtain a holistic view of the business justification.

Strong plus includes:

  • Experience in assessing Obligors' group structures and intragroup linkages with the aim to determine credit ratings with limited financial information.
  • Profound understanding of the specific risks in the international surety and trade finance business.
  • Understanding of rating municipalities and government related, non-profit organizations
  • Understanding of rating asset managers and private equity firms
  • Business degree and/or CFA / Chartered Accountant or similar qualification in finance
