What You Will Do:

The Contracts Specialist will become a key member of the Contract Management Team in the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry division. In this role, you will be supporting our contracting activities by providing expertise in contract review, evaluation and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, negotiate and coordinate various types of sales related documents, including purchase orders, purchase agreements and requests for proposals (RFPs), ensuring they are aligned with corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the legal, financial, regulatory and business risks associated with sales orders and contract terms and conditions and clearly and efficiently communicate identified risks and potential exposures to company decision makers, as needed
  • Comprehensively understand the fundamentals of commercial sales, including pricing, delivery, warranty and payment terms, as well as legal terms, such as indemnification, insurance and limitation of liability.
  • Demonstrates expertise in reviewing and crafting responses to applicable topics in Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and similar solicitations.
  • Resolves contract term conflicts by proposing alternative solutions that meet both company and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with various groups like sales, order management, legal, finance, etc. and across the entire Thermo Fisher Scientific organization
  • Ensure the consistent and accurate organization of all contract files and related information within a centralized system.
  • Support Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodology and participate in initiatives as required

How You Will Get Here:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or legal related field

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in contract drafting and negotiation are required.
  • Experience in commercial and government contracting is a strong preference.
  • Experience in the Life & Laboratory Sciences and/or Healthcare industries is desired.

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities:

  • Shown ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines, independently handling tasks and collaborating within teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative / integrative style of working to reach common goals and objectives
  • Good judgment in balancing business and commercial needs and potential risks/exposures with customer requests.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of commercial sales terms, including pricing, delivery, warranty, and payment structures.
  • Ability to lead, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of integrity, intensity and involvement
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated through clear, concise, and engaging written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with SAP
