Clinical Decision Unit Hospitalist MD/DO

The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC), an affiliate of Hartford HealthCare, is a 443 bed mid-size community teaching hospital, located in New Britain, CT. We are seeking a Clinical Decision Unit Hospitalist to serve on as Physician for Attending Medical Staff. The Clinical Decision Unit Hospitalist is resposible for overseeing the dedicacted 12- bed observation unit. This position will have selected administrative responsibilities such as required committee work, quality improvement activities, and teaching responsibilities for both staff and the community.

Responsibilities include:

Clinical Leadership:
As the lead hospitalist, you will oversee the dedicated observation unit. Collaborate closely with nursing and care coordination teams to establish and maintain efficient patient care processes.
Patient Management:
Admit and discharge patients under observation care.Upgrade patients to inpatient status as needed.Conduct robust multidisciplinary rounds.Communicate effectively with patients, families, consultants, and primary care providers (PCPs).
Training and Collaboration:
Receive training from the Utilization Management team, Clinical Documentation team, and Billing & Coding team.Work closely with the Hospitalist Director and system leadership.
Quality Improvement:
Contribute to quality improvement efforts for the observation unit.Develop and maintain best practice guidelines and protocols.Participate in research and performance improvement projects.
