Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $59,800. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:


The Assessment Specialist is responsible for the annual implementation and delivery of National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAED) and IREAD-3.

You will remain current on policy in order to answer questions and assist the public regarding this assessment. The Assessment Specialist works with other assessment staff, curriculum consultants, and assessment contractors to ensure continuity in service delivery.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

  • Support the development and implementation of state and federal assessment programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of NAEP and IREAD 3 annually.
  • Support training opportunities regarding assessment implementation practices to ensure that the fidelity of the assessments is maintained.
  • Support the facilitation and creation of resources to promote assessment literacy.
  • Answer questions related to assessment and programming requirements.
  • Assist with the routine aspects of assessment programs including contract review and invoicing.
  • Lead weekly program meetings with vendors.
  • Collaborate with assessment specialists to define project schedules for internal and external deliverables.
  • Oversee data collection and program specific communication with internal departments, educators, and vendors.
  • Oversee and execute the planning of educator committees and meetings to assist in test development, item creation and reviews, blueprint development, data analysis, validity, fairness, etc.
to ensure Indiana students participate in valid and reliable assessments.

  • Tracks deliverables and project schedules for completion to ensure delivery of the assessment programs.
  • Communicates clearly and efficiently with parents, educators, contractors, and IDOE staff.
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with IDOE staff members.
  • Reviews test administration guidance, develops communication for assessment programs and confirms information fidelity with content specialists.
  • Assists the Division Chief, Director, Assistant Director, and other assessment and content specialists as needed.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
