A day in the life of a Maintenance Supervisor at Gemini includes:

  • Supervises, directs and coordinates the activities of workers (staff and contract) engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment.
  • Oversees local plant and facilities maintenance requirements, including preventative and demand maintenance in support of production and operations.
  • Provide project leadership required for the introduction of new manufacturing processes, relocation of existing production processes and introduction of new machinery. Assume full responsibility for all aspects of the project to ensure it meets goals and schedule; communicate project status to stake holders as appropriate; and follow up to ensure project results are sustained.
  • Provides leadership regarding employee relations and development through effective communications, coaching, and training. Actively develops people to improve performance and take on roles of greater responsibility.
  • Lead and support capital expenditure requests and implementations using basic cost justification and business management principles.
  • Support and develop LEAN principles in all manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Participate in new product design and manufacturing techniques.
  • Works with operators, team leaders and value stream planners, optimize process center layouts and designs while incorporating material flow and line balancing.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Project management including establishing and maintaining project timelines with minimum direct supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and support continuous improvement driven change.
  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts and methods along with the flexibility and adaptability to accept, support, and deploy new processes in a changing business environment.
  • Effective professional communication at both technical and leadership levels. Skills must include good interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, and ability to understand information and ideas as presented.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize time/workload and delegate work to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer programs.
