The Communication Senior Buyer demonstrates extensive experience in the Buying and Procurement Tasks and Activities competency. One should demonstrate knowledge of Alight's sourcing policies and guidelines, organizational strategies, practices and tools for procuring supplies and services needed on behalf of the Consumer Experience business.

The Communication Senior Buyer will partner with Delivery Consultants and functional colleagues in a designated market to manage the process and paperwork involved in securing outside vendors and tracking client deliverables. In this role, colleagues will utilize internal systems to process Purchase Orders, Requisitions, and Vendor Contracts; document and track receipt of delivery on all client deliverables; and assist in resolving billing issues. The Communication Senior Buyer will report to the Operations Leader within Consumer Experience.

Responsibilities:

Strengthen Our Business

  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality when working with sensitive projects or material.
  • Works with Requestors to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley laws and guidelines and internal purchasing procedures.
  • Monitors effectiveness of procurement policies and strategies.
  • Implements changes to improve buying or procurement procedures.
  • Contributes to the establishment of new buying or procurement policies and strategies, as needed.
  • Establishes and manages contracts with suppliers.
  • Coordinates training of suppliers to accomplish business initiatives.
  • Confers with suppliers to obtain and/or update equipment and service information.
  • Manages ongoing communications with suppliers.
  • Partners with suppliers to ensure invoices are sent within two weeks of project completion.
  • Offers feedback on vendor performance in obtaining quotes and financial processing.
  • Maintains a suitable and diverse pool of suppliers and contingent workforce.
  • Assists Procure-to-Pay Leader with preparations for supplier fund approvals presented at the Global Sourcing Review Board (GSRB).
  • Coordinates Security Risk Assessments between the internal Client Supplier Security team and supplier.
  • Maintains focus on pricing strategy and supplier negotiations.
  • Develops and implements financial spreadsheets, e.g., supplier spend reports and contingent workforce schedules.
  • Reviews OSS expense monthly and initiates appropriate reclass actions as necessary.
  • Understands accrual accounting and completes monthly expense management procedures.
  • Manage and/or understand contingent workforce hiring process and procurement procedures.
  • Partners and has strong relationships with Strategic Sourcing, Strategic Governance, and Procurement teams.
  • Provides effective guidance to Requestors and Consumer Experience colleagues.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the business goals of the firm and our clients.
  • Continues to grow professional skills and apply those skills with excellence.

Requirements:

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years prior relative business experience in an office environment; production and/or purchasing experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in business is preferred.
  • Some experience working in the printing or graphic design industry is preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office experience and skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Extreme attention to detail/organization.
  • Proactive, customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated project coordination experience.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive information.
  • Experience working with and providing analysis to managers.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines, interruptions, and multiple tasks/projects occurring at once.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical skills as defined by the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn at a fast pace.
  • Ability to see "the big picture"
  • Demonstrated experience with financial process and reporting.

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate's experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $52.500,00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $130.000,00/year (for full-time employees).
