Job Description:

Summary:

The person in this position will work with teams on projects involving environmental monitoring and problem solving in the air-quality field. This position presents the opportunity to grow with the air-emissions sampling business in one of the leading consulting firms in the upper Midwest and a firm that has been named as a "Best Engineering Firm to Work for" by the Environmental Business Journal and Civil Engineering News. Work will include conducting air-emissions sampling and data collection at industrial facilities, monitoring equipment calibration and maintenance, conducting laboratory analysis and data reduction, and assisting with report preparation for submittal to clients and regulatory authorities. Work will include both travel to and work at client facilities and completion of responsibilities in Barr's Edina field office.

Minimum Requirements:
Associates degree in sciencesIntrinsic motivation with an emphasis on client service and interest in growing a career in air-quality samplingStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and completenessStrong data analysis skills including the use of spreadsheetsFlexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needsWillingness to regularly travel up to 50 percent of the time with the potential for greater levels of periodic travel to meet client needsMechanical aptitudeAbility to lift and carry equipment weighing approximately 70 pounds and work at heightsValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific disciplineWorking knowledge of air-emission test methodsExperience with air-emission sampling equipment and conducting air-emission stack testsExperience evaluating environmental data and preparing reportsExperience in laboratory chemistry

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis and Hibbing, Minnesota, offices.

NOTE:Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, high temperature and pressure process equipment, and other conditions typical of large industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided.
