Our client is a trusted partner in the engineering community for over 25 years who serves State and Federal Transportation Agencies and Authorities, Municipal and County Public Works Departments, and private sector enterprises and contractors.


Senior Electrical Engineer with an opportunity to experience a varied array of projects which include large infrastructure, ground, underground, rail, and transit projects throughout the New York Area.

This individual will function as Lead Electrical Engineer on projects, responsible for all aspects of electrical design, ranging from: field survey, calculations, computer aided drafting (CAD), equipment selection, coordination with trades, maintaining client standards and relations, and other fundamentals of engineering and business.


Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering design principles
  • Applies knowledge of electrical power design in support of a range of projects, including power generation (thermal and renewable) plants, industrial plants, and water/wastewater treatment facilities
  • Applies knowledge of one-line drawings, elementaries, and wiring diagrams, equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment), power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, system studies and protective relay settings
  • Applies knowledge of power systems ranging from 120V to 35kV distribution and transmission systems
  • Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all electrical engineered systems or products for a project
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
  • Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of electrical systems and provides markups for junior engineers
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various electrical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating
  • Participates in the full project cycle, planning phase through construction close-out
  • Develops and manages the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers
  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group
  • Assists with the development of proposal for smaller, less complex projects
  • Oversees and manages multiple projects
  • Participates in constructability review
  • Leads one or more teams through all phases of project document production
  • Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Visits project sites, record construction progress and existing conditions, attend testing events
  • Applies codes and standards which regulate and guide the industry
  • Uses AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and Microsoft Word to assemble contract documents
  • Contributes to the professional growth of others


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering and design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) - *MUST be licensed in NY - (NJ Preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and presentation abilities in internal project settings with senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and staff supervision
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of National Electrical Code and applicable energy codes
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, means, methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others
  • Practical field experience (survey, start up, commissioning, maintenance)


**Note: Hybrid work schedule - typically 3 days a week in office usually Tues, Wed and Thursday. Specific projects or clients may require in-person on other days and flexibility.
