Role Description

  • This is a full-time on-site position located in our Irvine, CA location. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project by executing a detailed line-item budget by trade with unit costs. This role requires someone with an acute attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with fixed deadlines.
  • Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work to develop estimates
  • Analyze electrical, mechanical, architectural drawings and other documents to use in preparation of detailed estimates
  • Responsible for preparation of bid documents and proposals
  • Manage large and/or multiple project estimates independently
  • Strategize with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to formulate estimates
  • Review contracts on awarded jobs and assure the contracts include our exclusions, clarifications, and reflect proposal scope
  • Manage bid follow-ups
  • Participate in job walks and pre-bid meetings as needed
  • Build valued relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and create new business opportunities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience in budgeting and estimating for commercial construction projects including offsite civil and underground utilities, commercial TI/interior, multifamily, retail, prevailing wage work, concrete, grading, and restaurant knowledge a plus
  • Proficiency in reading commercial architectural and construction plans, specifications, and takeoffs
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in BuilderTrend, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel
  • Possess excellent analytical and organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, work with tight schedules, deliver deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations
