Venteon Finance is hiring a SENIOR PAYROLL / TAX SPECIALIST to provide support in Detroit, MI.


POSITION TYPE: Full Time. Direct hire. In Office. PAY: $75,000 to $85,000 annual based on education and skill level


Requirements of the Senior Payroll Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will also consider extensive work experience in payroll and payroll taxes.
  • Previous work experience processing high volume, multi state payroll.
  • Experience with payroll tax compliance – Knowledge of Quarterly and Annual Federal and State Payroll Tax Returns; Forms 941, 940, and W2 is required. Ability to register taxes with new state and local agencies.
  • Technical: Knowledge and experience working with ADP Workforce Now/ ADP Smart Compliance. Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables, V Lookups, working with large data.
  • Able to perform well with strict deadlines.



Duties of the Senior Payroll Specialist

Responsible for processing payroll, record management, tax notice handling, auditing, and functions related to payroll and taxation. Support the payroll team, time and billing team and accounting team on various functions, programs, and initiatives. Following up on tax notices.


PAYROLL PROCESSING

  • Administrating weekly and semi-monthly payroll as part of a team. Communicate regularly with Onboarding and Timesheets Teams. Maintain deductions, other earnings types, commission, bonuses. Monitor and respond to incoming questions and inquiries from consultants and management. Maintain confidential personnel files.
  • Create maintain payroll reporting spreadsheets.
  • Facilitate Correspondence for Garnishment / Wage Attachments with various agencies.
  • Handle employment verifications.
  • Communicate with employees and leadership team in confidence and with professionalism.
  • Facilitate any issues with ADP payroll submissions.
  • Assist in payroll software conversions. Assist in training new hires on ADP Workforce Now software.
  • Cover the Payroll Manager when on leave.


PAYROLL TAX SUPPORT

  • Register with new state and local taxing agencies.
  • Review ADP Tax reports. Verify ADP Scheduled tax payments have been processed and sent.
  • Facilitate and tax notices in ADP Smart Compliance software.
  • Follow up with ADP and IRS on any amended payroll tax returns Forms 940/941.
  • Assist in year-end W2 reconciliation.
