Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager oversees all HR employees, activities, programs and initiatives to maximize smooth operations and help the Company achieve business goals. Responsibilities include recruitment & onboarding, payroll, benefits, employee relations and performance management while ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws. The Human Resources Manager acts in an advisory capacity to the President sharing information and professional knowledge that would best serve the interests of the Company. The Human Resources Manager stays closely connected to the JM Pet Resort mission and makes decisions in keeping with core policies and values.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain a friendly, efficient, and positive attitude towards colleagues and clients.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with the company's mission and values.
- Lead and manage a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective execution of HR initiatives.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee questions on benefits, payroll, policies, and HR programs.
- Manage benefit programs, including annual enrollment, plan documentation, and communication.
- Improve the performance review process and ensure timely completion of reviews.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding HR.
- Manage workers compensation claims reporting and company compliance.
- Develop and maintain positive employee relations through open communication and employee engagement
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure HR initiatives are aligned with business goals.
- Develop and manage HR budgets and resources.
- Stay up-to-date with changing labor laws and regulations, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
- Continuously improve HR metric dashboard and provide statistics on a quarterly basis.
- Play an integral role as part of the Management Team, wearing "many hats" outside the HR function.
- Assist with special projects as requested by the President.
Computer Skills
- Must be able to learn and efficiently use HRIS/Payroll software, Gingr, Electronic calendar management & Go Daddy email, When I Work and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years Human Resources Management experience required
- Computer savvy, uses multiple software platforms daily to accomplish business objectives
- Strong work ethic, sets high standards for self and others
- Highly organized; able to juggle multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Personally connects with our core principals as described in our Mission/Vision Statements
- Comfortable interacting with all breeds large and small
- Passionate about animal welfare, treats all animals with compassion and kindness
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field required
- Animal Industry experience preferred
- Human Resources Certification required
- Predicative Index experience preferred
