About the Role
Insight Global is seeking a talented Backend PHP Developer to join our development team. In this role, you will work closely with our front-end developers and other team members to design, develop, and maintain backend services and integrations for our web and mobile applications. This role is a hybrid role and will work in-person from the Franklin, TN office 2 days a week.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain performant, scalable, and secure PHP applications.
Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic and functionality.
Work with databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), API integrations, and server-side logic to enhance the performance of existing applications.
Assist in the design and development of APIs to support mobile and desktop clients.
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure code quality.
Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle from initial concept to deployment and maintenance.
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years experience with PHP 5 & 7, building stand-alone applications (i.e., not just WordPress sites)
3+ years experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including writing queries
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other developers.
Experience Consuming RESTful APIs
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with Node.js
Experience developing through Agile software development processes
Experience writing APIs for web, mobile and third-party applications
Familiarity with front-end languages (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, and CSS)
