Stoelting publishes and sells psycho-educational assessments and supports mental health and educational professionals using them. For over 130 years, Stoelting has researched and developed tests that clinical and school psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other clinicians have used to evaluate, treat, and provide ongoing support to the diverse populations with whom they work.

The Psychology division interacts with other divisions at Stoelting involved with scientific research and equipment production and distribution. Psychology works with outside experts and in-house staff in the development and production of tests, from content development and data analysis, through design and production, to marketing and sales and ongoing customer support and training. Stoelting has had a strong presence in assessments for individuals with physical disabilities and autism, including nonverbal assessments, such as the Leiter-3. Stoelting maintains an active research and development program, updating existing assessments and expanding into new strategic areas, and incorporating technology into its professional tools.


PRODUCT MANAGER DESCRIPTION

Stoelting is seeking a Product Manager, who would lead the Psychology division. The Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and collaborating with senior management on strategic decisions. The role is at the intersection of business, psychology, and research and requires flexibility and a diverse set of skills, or ability to learn those skills, to integrate a variety of duties. The Product Manager will work with onsite and distributed staff to manage business operations, including inventory and customer record management, website content, physical inventory, and sales and fulfillment. When developing products, there is management of teams of remote contract workers who are subject matter experts, designers, printers, and other specialist to bring assessment tools from initial concept through to completed product. The position will interact with end-users, clinicians using the products in mental health and educational service provision, answering questions, providing training, and attending conferences.

DUTIES

There are three main categories under which position duties fall:

Product Development

  • Evaluate product proposals and seek potential developable products
  • Conduct needs assessment/focus groups to gather expert/user opinions to inform test development
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop content to use in standardized tests
  • Edit content to adhere to standards of ethical assessment, clarity for users, and for mechanical issues
  • Create and manage research plan to field research assessments
  • Create training program, recruit and train field researchers, and manage logistical aspects of field research, including data collection and storage
  • Conduct data analysis to evaluate psychometric properties of tests or partner with experts in this area
  • Present research findings in test manual technical chapters, adhering to professional standards, incorporating tables and figures, including plots and charts
  • Work with graphic designers to layout materials
  • Work with engineers and suppliers to design and procure physical test components
  • Oversee printing of paper components, ensuring integrity of design and quality
  • Manage test design records, ensuring safe storage and accuracy
  • Design, or work with experts to design, technological tools for use with tests, including scoring applications and reporting tools
  • Help manage physical inventory, conduct quality control, be product expert for fulfillment staff

Marketing

  • Create marketing content, including product promotional brochures, a yearly comprehensive product catalog, email blasts, and ad copy
  • Design promotional material with basic design tools or work with a designer to create effective paper-based and electronic advertising
  • Manage social media
  • Procure and manage contacts
  • Website product listing content creation and website management using website development tools
  • Implement SEO strategies and brand awareness and track those efforts

Clinical Support

  • Answer clinician phone call and email questions regarding product usage, advising on ethical and appropriate use of tests
  • Create and deliver in-person and remote trainings on assessments and appropriate use
  • Record, edit, and publish video and images demonstrating products and on relevant topics
  • Attend conferences, representing products at a company booth, propose and present conference presentations, and manage booth display and set-up
  • Work with customers to create custom solutions for their research/clinical assessment needs and create agreements for those modifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Advanced degree in clinical psychology, school psychology, educational psychology, or relevant discipline with focus on psychological assessment
  • Experience providing a wide-range of psychological assessments, scoring, and writing reports and delivering findings to stakeholders
  • Well-versed in assessment trends, current assessments, state of the field, and professional standards in mental health provision
  • Experience or knowledge of educational systems and multidisciplinary teams

Technical

  • Knowledge of data analysis/statistical techniques involving univariate descriptive, bivariate comparison, regression, dimension reduction, methods of demonstrating psychometric reliability and validity; bonus for ability to conduct these techniques and use programmatic data analysis tools
  • Proficiency in use of technical tools for document, presentation, spreadsheet, and forms creation, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Outlook, and ability to learn light video editing and website management
  • Proficient knowledge of professional language, grammar, and mechanical issues, and ability to convey edits to content developers and product development team
  • Ability to leverage remote work tools to manage product development with a distributed team

Personal

  • Ability to autonomously organize multiple projects simultaneously to completion
  • Ability to communicate with a multidisciplinary team in roles outside of traditional psychological domains
  • Ability to interact with customers, represent products effectively, and take initiative in pursuing new customer segments
  • Ability to work in person in Wood Dale, IL 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday and travel to in-person conferences and trainings up to ~ 10%
