JOB SUMMARY

The Commercial Cabinet Maker/Installer II at VHC Wood Products builds on foundational skills to take on increasingly complex and independent cabinet construction and installation tasks. This role involves mastering CNC operations and specialized woodworking machinery. Experienced installers will execute advanced tasks with minimal supervision and grow into project leadership roles.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Cabinet Making & Production:

  • Progress from: Reading basic design plans and constructing cabinetry components with moderate supervision using hand tools, case clamps, and woodworking machinery.
  • To: Independently operating CNC machines, edge banders, and dowelling machines, executing complex assemblies, including plastic lamination and solid surface fabrication.

Installation & Site Work:

  • Progress from: Assisting with on-site cabinet installation, making minor adjustments, and supporting senior installers.
  • To: Performing independent installations, troubleshooting on-site, and liaising with clients to ensure timely, quality installations.

Quality Assurance & Advanced Skill Development:

  • Progress from: Ensuring cabinets meet company quality standards and rectifying minor issues.
  • To: Leading sections of larger projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and taking ownership of the final product.

Workplace Cleanliness & Safety:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following the "clean as you go" policy. Experienced installers will lead efforts to maintain hazard-free workspaces.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Proficiency: 3-5 years of experience in cabinet making, installation, and woodworking, with increasing complexity in tasks. Advanced CNC operation and proficiency with specialized woodworking equipment are essential for those at the top pay level.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and execute complex design plans with attention to detail.
  • Leadership & Problem Solving: Ability to lead smaller projects independently and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Must have a positive attitude, handle high workloads effectively, and align with company values, mission statement, and code of conduct.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in woodworking is a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Requires standing, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and regular travel to job sites.
  • Availability for second shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Safety: Wear all applicable PPE, undergo a respirator fit test (including a physical), and adhere to all safety protocols.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to pass a DOT physical and meet company insurability requirements for driving company vehicles.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug testing.
