This role requires a blend of technical expertise, user-centric mindset, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

User Research (70%):

  • Conduct thorough user research to understand the current utilization of Tableau reports across the organization.
  • Engage with users through interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather insights into their reporting needs, pain points, and usage patterns.
  • Analyze existing Tableau reports and develop a clear disposition strategy for report inventory, including consolidation, retirement, or migration.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align transition goals with business objectives.
  • Create detailed user personas and journey maps to guide the design and development of new PowerBI reports.
  • Gather user feedback to iterate and improve designs from low fidelity to high fidelity prototypes.

Solution Design (20%):

  • Work closely with the BI development team to communicate user requirements and ensure that PowerBI reports meet user expectations.
  • Provide support and training materials to assist users in adapting to PowerBI and enhancing their data visualization capabilities.
  • Design compelling visuals, storyboards, presentations, and immersive experiences to engage users effectively.

Other Duties (10%):

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Product Design, Service Design, User Experience, or Business Analysis.
  • 8+ years of experience in user research, particularly in software or business intelligence tool adoption.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization platforms, with formal training or certification in PowerBI preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and business intelligence best practices.
  • Proven track record in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Formal education or certification in Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Information Science, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered research principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with users at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to adapt research methods to team needs and define new methods as needed.
  • Proactive in identifying and scoping business cases to support vendor selection.
  • Ability to adhere to and evolve brand identity, visual concepts, and design systems.
