Job Description


POSITION SUMMARY


The Clinical Laboratory Manager is responsible for operations oversight of Clinical Laboratory within the Laboratory at Marshall Medical Center ensuring functions run smoothly and efficiently. Works in conjunction with the Laboratory Director, Phlebotomy Manager and section supervisors in compiling/reviewing quality assurance data within the clinical laboratory’s quality plan and actively works to improve service as the result of findings of the data and/or in response to other identified issues or concerns. Formulates and ensures that policies, assigned objectives and established standards of practice within the laboratory departments are maintained in collaboration with the section supervisors. Supervises all Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Medical Laboratory Technicians to include scheduling, staffing, training, performance, and quality control.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • California Certified CLS License required
  • 5 years of CLS experience required
  • 3 Year of proven CLS Supervisory experience required

Knowledge:

  • Demonstration of leadership abilities; 5 years of Supervisory experience highly desired.


Skills:

  • Knowledge of quality laboratory testing, resulting, and reporting along with proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, labeling, handling, transportation and storage of specimens
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Must understand all laboratory related policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with providers and employees successfully and positively at all levels throughout the organization and the public.
  • The skills required to implement quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory.
  • An awareness of the factors that influence test results, and the skills required to assess and verify the validity of patient test results through the evaluation of quality control sample values prior to reporting patient test results.
